Upcycle Oregon aims to promote creative reuse through art, fashion and hands-on learning experiences.

Upcycle Oregon raises awareness about statewide waste reduction, creative reuse and methods of sustainability. It highlights Oregon artists and innovators; provides waste reduction education; encourages the reuse of a variety of materials in new, different and creative forms; and stimulates the local economy.

Our event features an exhibition of art and innovative products, an artist’s marketplace, and a trashion (trash + fashion) show of clothing made from materials that would otherwise have gone into the landfill or recycling bin, as well as educational exhibits and displays on consumption alternatives, waste reduction, and sustainable practices. These exhibits and displays bring awareness to our habits as consumers and highlight the need for change.

Through Upcycle Oregon, we are celebrating, exploring and promoting creative solutions for a sustainable Oregon.

The inaugural Upcycle Oregon event was held Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Oregon State Capitol. It featured hands-on activities, an upcycled artwork exhibit, trashion (upcycled fashion) show, waste reduction education and an artist’s reception.
